This workshop will be held at The New Local Annex at 713 Pearl St., a few doors west of The New Local Gallery.
Instructor: Daniela Uribe
Join Daniela as she shares her heritage and the holiday festival of 'The Little Candles' from Colombia. Participants will craft cut paper lanterns to adorn windows and sidewalks and bring in the light for the holiday season.
All ages welcome, children should be accompanied by an adult.

Colombia's Día de las Velitas, or “Day of the Little Candles”, celebrated on December 7th and 8th, is a colorful festivity that marks the beginning of the holiday season. On this magical night, streets and homes light up with a multitude of lanterns and little candles, creating a dazzling spectacle across the country. From small lanterns to elaborate light displays, people's creativity is reflected in the diversity of lights adorning cities and towns. This tradition not only beautifies the surroundings but also symbolizes shared joy and the festive spirit that unites the Colombian community.
El Día de las Velitas en Colombia, celebrado el 7 y 8 de diciembre, es una festividad colorida que marca el comienzo de la temporada navideña. En esta noche mágica, calles y hogares se iluminan con una multitud de faroles y velitas, creando un espectáculo deslumbrante en todo el país. Desde pequeñas linternas hasta elaborados faroles, la creatividad de la gente se refleja en la diversidad de luces que adornan las ciudades y pueblos. Esta tradición no solo embellece el entorno, sino que también representa la alegría compartida y el espíritu festivo que une a la comunidad colombiana.
