Instructor: Rachel Thurber
Join us in learning the basics of weaving on cardboard looms! This two hour class will include 2 finished projects that will be taken home. For the introductory project, we will be weaving blankets onto llamas backs. Then, we will be weaving bookmarks with thin, weaving yarn. The kids will have the opportunity to master the art of weaving, while gaining confidence and having fun learning a new skill!
About the Artist:
Rachel Thurber is a textile artist who uses weaving and dyeing to foster a sense of oneness with the environment. Her work explores the colors and textures of the land on which we live. Initially inspired by the desert landscapes of Arizona, she weaves color, pattern, and texture into abstract depictions of larger than life settings. She has her BFA in fiber art and enjoys sharing her passions with others.
