About the Artist:
Rachel Thurber is a textile artist who uses weaving and dyeing to foster a sense of oneness with the environment. Her work explores the intricacies of the relationship between human and nature on an individual and societal basis. Initially inspired by the desert landscapes of Arizona, she weaves color, pattern, and texture into abstract depictions of larger than life settings. Through her work she seeks to cultivate in her audience a deeper awareness of their place in the natural world.
Rachel has exhibited work in a handful of galleries in the Southwest, and has a permanent showing in an Arizona hotel. She is currently drawing inspiration from Boulder, CO.
