Alcohol ink artist Debra Jason provides guidance, positive reinforcement and a FUN, optimistic outlook on creativity as you explore the world of alcohol inks. During this program you’ll get an introduction to the inks, tools you can use, safety considerations, various substrates you can work on, and more.
Painting with alcohol inks brings unexpected results. While you may have an idea in mind when you begin to paint, you’ll find the inks have a mind of their own that lead your creativity in a delightful direction. Discover a new interest and passion that sparks joy and opens the door to your personal expression. Debra encourages you to let go of your pursuit for perfection and let imperfection lead the way while listening
to the creative whispers of your heart. With this in mind, before painting, you’ll start with a brief meditation to help you relax and release the inner artist within you.
Even if you think you’re not an artist, experience the joy of creating something from nothing with the free-flowing medium of alcohol inks. You’ll be pleasantly surprised as you watch your creations blossom into vibrant works of art.
About the instructor:
In addition to being an alcohol ink artist, Debra Jason is a national speaker, author, and direct response copywriter.
She first learned about alcohol inks in 2017 when she decided to let her inner artist out. She purchased a set of inks and sat down to paint. However, displeased with her results, she put the inks aside thinking, “I’ll try it again another day.”
When the pandemic hit, with stay-at-home orders in place, she pulled out the alcohol inks once again and decided to play and experiment with technique and color. And, this time, not judge the results.
After someone asked if they could purchase one of her paintings, Debra’s work progressed from original artworks to hand-painted scarves, pendants, holiday ornaments and more. Hence, her art business Creative Whispers of the Heart was born.
Since beginning her creative journey, Debra’s alcohol ink paintings have been exhibited at Boulder’s R Gallery (now Open Studios Downtown Gallery); in Longmont at The Great Frame Up – Artists’ Gallery, Danish Furniture, and The Optical Centre; and in Lafayette at Timbalier Gifts. Her work has been purchased by collectors across the U.S. and in France. Her painting “Whispering Silver Tides” received Honorable Mention in an abstract competition hosted by Art & Color 365 magazine. Her technique for
painting silk scarves was featured in Creating Art with Alcohol Ink, published by Design Originals, 2023.
Debra’s abstract creations are often inspired by the beauty of nature, flowers, and soothing colors of the ocean that spark an emotional connection with viewers. Her objective as an artist is that you find her work not only speaks to your heart, but inspires and brings you joy.
