THE NEW LOCAL supports women in the creative industries and their communities. Creators receive 100% of earned income from this -and every- TNL marketplace, thereby promoting a living wage for women artists and small business owners. We provide free business education to our artists, who in turn provide free art education to the public. Our calls for creative work are always open to the public; we welcome submissions from all female-identifying creators, focusing outreach to underserved and minority communities.
As a result of the pandemic, art shows and festivals have been cancelled for nearly a year, resulting in women losing their marketplaces and subsequent, direct income. In addition, galleries and retails spaces continue to struggle as the Covid-19 crisis upends lives and livelihoods, resulting in canceled or scarce orders for makers.
THE NEW LOCAL is stepping in, creating a collective platform that supports women artists and small business owners to rebound and thrive.
