Amy Gates

A tree-hugger at heart, Amy Gates (she/her) of Avian Designs enjoys combining her love of the earth and her creative side into making unique up-cycled leather and vintage tin jewelry, as well as mixed media art. By using repurposed items like thrifted leather/suede jackets and vintage cookie tins, she is able to take something old and discarded and give it new life by making it into wearable art! She also enjoys upcycling picture frames & fabric into mountain-scapes and tins into wall hangings.

We live in a throw-away society, but Amy hopes to mitigate that a little bit in her own way by giving old items a second chance. It is her goal to make beautiful jewelry & art that is both eco-friendly and affordable. In addition, Avian Designs donates 5% of all sales The Trevor Project, a non-profit organization which focuses on suicide prevention among LGBTQ youth.

Amy lives in Longmont with her husband, two kids, 1 dog and several chickens. In addition to creating, she enjoys gardening, reading and spending time in nature. You can find her up-cycled creations online at: https://aviandesigns.com/
